Senior Materials Requirements Planner - Ship Building

A Senior Materials Requirements Planner with Ship Building is required to work on a six contract (with the possibility of extension) for our defence client based in Cumbria.

This is a 6-month contract with a leading UK defence company.

Overview of the Senior Materials Requirements Planner contract role

Working within the Supply Chain function, a Principle Material Requirements Planner will be responsible for the analysis, initiation and management of material issues to support Construction and Manufacture build. A Principle Material Requirements Planner will have specific areas of specialisation.

* Support the Project Leader to lead and develop the team to achieve their work programme, implementing all performance measures (cost, schedule, quality and safety).
* Communicate effectively with the team, management, contractors and customers.
* Responsible for liaising with planning and other technical departments to ensure timely deadlines are met.
* Responsible for developing innovative process solutions which link to own and other key business areas.
* Support the Project Leader to develop and motivate any reporting and assigned staff through good communication and honest open management techniques in keeping with company values, policies and procedures.

Key skills required for the Senior Materials Requirements Planner

To be conversant with the Quality and HS&E Management Systems, specifically the processes and documentation, training and risk assessments associated with your particular function. To deploy the applicable Quality Management System and HS&E documentation to your team ensuring they have both a thorough understanding of the content, risks and control measures and can ultimately demonstrate their competence to apply them. To exhibit the required company HS&E behaviours and to demonstrate practical HS&E leadership.

* Fully support Production IWT structure by ensuring timely completion of action's raised, including material forecasts, expediting support and timely completion of Notifications and raised 3C's.
* Fully support the Material Readiness Review process, by ensure all identified materials are pro-actively managed in agreed timeframes. A Principal Operations Engineer will escalate issues through the process to provide early visibility of material and plan misalignment.
* Provide detailed analysis around specific areas of specialisation including reporting and performance metrics.
* Support business drive around ongoing Material Availability Improvement by the timely release of requisitions to support material availability in store. Instigate material transfers both within and cross project, ensure replenishment route is available to comply with business financial requirements. Engage with Planning around Plan discrepancies to maintain a quality Plan.
* Mentor new starts and formulate and deliver specific training requirements in line with department training matrix.
* Be required to support Management around people issues, attend meetings around specific area of specialism and produced detailed out-put's.

The role is based in Barrow in Furness, Cumbria - commutable from Carnforth, Milnthorpe, Lancaster, Morecambe, Penrith, Workington, Whitehaven and The Lake District.
